UFC – ultimate thrills and excitement
It is fair to say that UFC has taken the world by storm. Created in 1993, this mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting sport has gained a massive worldwide following. UFC has ten different weight divisions and features bouts from both men and women. The fights take place in a ring called the Octagon, due to its eight sides. It has a storied history, from the early days when it was lampooned for its brutality, to today where the big events and competitors are on a par with the world's biggest boxing matches. Some of the competitors have become household names – Brock Lesnar, Ken Shamrock and Ronda Rousey to name but a few. MMA betting has also grown alongside the sport, with bettors keen to back their favourite UFC superstar.
A sport growing in popularity
The UFC fighters come in all shapes and sizes. In the early years there were no weight divisions so a competitor could face someone with a huge weight differential. As the sport has grown weight divisions have been created. However, inter-divisional fights still occur. Each round in the UFC lasts 5 minutes. Normal bouts are held over 3 rounds with Championship fights going a maximum of 5 rounds. Female UFC fighting has also grown in stature over the last few years as was seen in the bout between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm.
Bet on the UFC
Nowadays UFC betting is hugely popular. The outcome of the match is somewhat like boxing - knockout, judges' decision etc. however in UFC, fighters can also win by submission. There are loads of ways to bet on the UFC. You can bet on the method of victory, round betting and who will win the fight itself.
